Week 13

Final week

This is the final week for the prototype game development. Based on the feedback from last week, we did some adjustments to the existing game functions and implemented some new functions for other levels. Now the game can be play through from start to end.

The changes made this week are mostly based on the last week's testing session feedback.

Minimap now also render the terrain, this could give the player a better idea of where the enemy and wild fox direction based on the minimap.

The cost of summoning a special fox minion is added back to the ability icon, this has solved the issue from testing session feedback about the cost of the special fox summoning not visible in-game.

When the player is near a wild fox, wild foxes will also run towards the player and gets picked up when in contact with the player, this saves a lot of time for the player to pick up every single wild fox, making for a much quicker and enjoyable experience.

Wild foxes will also make a sound when gets picked up by the player, gives the player a sign to say you picked up a wild fox. Also, the fox summoning will make a sound too.

When the player has been hit by an enemy or something from the environment, there will be a post-processing vignette effect applied to the player view to notify that the player is taking damage.

The camera of view is now able to rotate by 45 degrees every time when pressing the Q or E key, this solves the issue of the camera will getting blocked by some environmental objects to causing a dead zone that makes the player not visible to the camera.

To clear the last level to complete the game, the player will need to kill a number of humans depends on the selected game difficulty, eliminate all swat enemies and kill Larry.

Swat armies are added to the last level of the game, they are spawned around Larry and attack all nearby fox minions or the player, they got higher health points and damage, so be aware!

We also increased the speed of the character, the foxes and the humans as we found this increased the pace of the game and made it more fun and exciting! You should notice that the foxes also have slightly different speeds too. The normal foxes are now super quick and faster than all the other special foxes. We wanted this because there should something that they are good at too!


We filled out the other levels we have created as well! 

Level 2 Transition Level

Level 2 has the player leaving her forest home and entering the city. As you can see below, the forest has been cut down and destroyed. Simon did an awesome job in creating these levels!


Level 3 City Level

Level 3 was filled with heaps of humans and foxes as the player assaults the city destroying all in her path! Cars, barricades and other city bound objects have been added to "flesh" out the city. An increased amount of humans with weapons (fighters) were put in this level to increase the difficulty a little bit.


Level 4 Boss Level

Level 4 is a night-time level in the city. More cars, streetlights and other objects with introduced to increase immersion in the level. We made the sidewalks inaccessible due to some pathing issues, but we feel it does not detract from the game. This level is huge, with humans (mostly fighters) and foxes everywhere! In addition to this, we added Swat enemies and the boss Larry!

These guys (or girls) are slightly larger than the normal humans and should all be fighters. They move quicker and hit harder.


Larry

The final boss, instigator is the destruction of Satsuitsunes home, is in this level. Currently we are using a much enlarged human model, and increased his hitpoints, speed and damage beyond even the Swat enemies. He is supposed to be the boss after all!
