Week 4 Game Ideas

Week 4

Game Ideas

Game 1

Description

Rogue style game (not procedural although I would love to), where you explore the level, run around picking up loot and killing enemies. If they die, they reset to the beginning and lose everything. See how far can you get before you die? The twist? The stage is a giant sphere, and you're on the INSIDE!!!

Audience

Casual gamers mostly. Rogue style games are an easy pick up and play. Easy to navigate, play a few levels and then do something else.

Could it be successful?

There is definite potential here, but I honestly believe a procedural level design would be the way to go (but not for this unit).

Goal of the Prototype

Definitely focused on the gameplay. Easy to add in a little story to it, but is not the focus of the game.

Game 2

Description

3D Biker game where you ride around a level, all geared up and with spiked boots and chains. Looking the complete badass that you are. But you lose points if you run into something, or hurt someone or do something illegal. And you gain points for stopping at the stop signs, indicating when you turn and keeping to the speed limit.

Audience

Anyone looking for a short silly game. Although some could point it towards an "educational" game for kids on road rules and doing the right thing?

Could it be successful?

As a game to be sold? No. As a fun game to muck around with with? Yes.

Goal of the Prototype

Focused on gameplay here. Story is not really the point.

Game 3

Description

Thinking of all those zombie survival games where you and your team mates run through a gauntlet of obstacles to survive to the next safe area? What about all those poor zombies that were just hungry? This game would be the opposite to the zombie survival genre. You would control the horde, you could send them straight into the survivors, who are armed to the teeth with a vast array of weaponry, or you could send a few to slow them while you collect and build your horde finally swarming those evil survivors with endless waves of flesh eating friends!

Audience

Aimed more towards the teens and onwards as younger children may find the concept of zombies frightening.

Could it be successful?

Yes, the potential here is huge. Harder levels increase the weaponry of the survivors, decrease the amount of zombies at your disposal. Could even look at adding in some "extra friendly" zombies mutations to spice it up a bit!

Goal of the Prototype

Would look at gameplay more than story here. There is definitely a story to be had, but it should be easy to add in at a later stage.
